NUMBER 1 REASON NOT TO GIVE UP ON YOUR MUSIC DREAMS:
101. DO IT FOR THE HATERS;
You dont want to get laughed at right? with the loser tag,or you cant even come out your street to buy recharge card cos you’re scared everyone will laugh at you,saying things like
“Omo, Omah lay,Rema,Joeboy don blow ,you still dey pay your transport go shows,still pay & beg to perform”
I know how hurting these words are to an artist cos I’ve been there and still kinda there..lol
Recently i was watching an interview of Big brother reality tv show host – Ebuka obi uchendu and popular afrobeats singer – Davido Adeleke.when asked what keeps him motivated , he said “HATERS”..
I perfectly relate because yes am not in competition with anyone but sometimes keeping in mind that if you fail people will laugh,keeps you on your toes.
So, i learnt how to rise above hate and use it to fuel my own fire for success,cos someone will always hate you for what you choose to do.so instead of letting the hate drag you into depression,use it as a tool to drive you to an obvious point of success that will first “wow” you and if they are still not “wowed” then just keep working on you,by either learning a new instrument or a new skill that can possibly put you at an advantage over other artistes or better still record a new song,which i can help you do at my home studio located at lekki phase 1,Lagos Nigeria.
My dream wasn’t meant to be easy. Simply put, if it was easy everyone would be doing it and succeeding very fast.
This is the mindset I have always carried from the set go of my music career cos my mentor once said to me “the only thing that is impossible is what you don’t try to achieve”
And in my head I know that the worst that could happen is that whike the haters be hating and I’m on my toes learning new skills, i would have learnt a lot that will still lead me on the same path.
